Aldermen placed $142,472 in the Street Department to reflect Internet tax receipts.

The Philadelphia Mayor and Board of Aldermen at its March 16 meeting agreed to use the Modernization Use Tax Act on streets.

The monies come from state sales tax collected on internet and out-of-state purchases and started coming in last year.

Philadelphia is putting the monies aside to build up for use in future projects, officials said. The city receives the funds twice a year.

In other matters, the board:

• Approved a request for Chief Eric Lyons to attend the Police Chief Conference June 15-18 in Biloxi. The city will cover travel and expenses;

• Approved a request for Sgt. Brad Crockett and Sgt. Lindsey Kidd to attend FTO training at Camp Shelby March 30-April 1. The city will cover travel and expenses;
