Hot shooting Rebelettes improve to 12-0 on season

The Rebelettes stayed un beaten as they took a 61-52 win over Fayette Academy on Monday the then hammered St. Agnes Academy 87-40 and hit a state-record 20 3-pointers to improve to 12-0 on the season.

The Rebels put together their first winning streak of the season with a pair of wins as they overcame early deficits to beat Freedom Prep 56-49 and Fayette Academy 67-42.

Leake has three games on the schedule for this week as they will host Canton on Monday and Hartfield on Tuesday. On Thursday, Leake will head to Greenwood to take on Pillow Academy. 

Leake girls 87, 

St. Agnes 40

The Rebelettes overcame a slow start and used a strong second period to cruise to a 47-point win on Tuesday at Marshall Academy.

Leake led 18-14 at the end of the first but then outscored St. Agnes 34-3 in the se and and led 52-17, thanks to 13 3-pointers in the first half. Leake continued to extend its lead in the second half as they outscored St. Agnes 21-10 in the third and 14-13 in the fourth.

Leake was 20-of-42, shooting 47 percent from the 3-point line and 31-of-62 from the field, putting four players in double figures points with 11 players scoring.

Emeri Warren led Leake with 16 points and four steaks while Grace Maxey had 16 points, four steals and four assists. Caroline Cheatham had a career high 15 points and four assists while Morgan Freeny had 12 points and three steals. Katye Jones had seven points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals while Marleigh Myers had seven points, four steals and three rebounds. McKinley Peoples, Anna Morgan Young, Abigail Graham and Elizabeth Smith also all hit 3-pointers in the record-breaking win.

Leake boys 56, 

Freedom Prep 49

The Rebels overcame a slow start and pulled away in the fourth period to take a seven-point win over Freedom Prep on Tuesday.

Freedom led 15-7 at the end of the first but Leake took the second period 13-7 and trailed 22-20 at the half. Leake then outscored Freedom 15-12 in the third and led 25-24 going to the fourth. Leake then outscored Freedom 21-15 to take the win.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 21 points while Aiden Watkins had 18 points. Whitt Welch had eight points while Jack Harkins added five points.

Leake girls 61, 

Fayette Academy 52

The Rebelettes overcame a slow start and took a nine-point win over the Lady Vikings on Monday at Marshall Academy.

Emeri Warren led Leake with 15 points and six rebounds while Morgan Freeny had 13 points, five assists and three rebounds. Grace Maxey had 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals while Marleigh Myers had eight points. Allen Kaye Wilcox had seven points, five assists and four rebounds while Katye Jones had six points, three rebounds and two steals.

Leake boys 67, 

Fayette Academy 42

The Rebels fell behind early again but rallied in the second half to blow out Fayette by 25 on Tuesday.

Fayette controlled the first half as they outscored Leake 8-5 in the first and 17-11 win the second to lead 25-16 at the half. But Leake turned on the pressure in the second half and outscored Fayette 26-11 in the third and 25-8 in the fourth to take the blowout win.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 19 points while Jake Freeny had 18 points. Whitt Welch had 13 points while Jack Harkins had eight points and Ben Jackson chipped in six points.
