“We had a good weekend,” Coach Zach Sanders said. “Our pitcher threw well. She had a perfect game and then allowed one hit the next night. We hit the ball well. We played some good teams late in the season and that helped prepare us.”

Sanders added that the Lady Rockets would have their hands full against Saltillo. Last year, the Lady Rockets swept Saltillo in the North State finals.

“I think they are 23-2,” Sanders said. “They have a good pitcher. They have everybody but one playing returning from last year. Saltillo is one of the top teams in 5A.

The first game of the series will be played at Saltillo Friday. The second game will start at 2 p.m. Saturday. The third game, if necessary, will be played Monday at Saltillo.

The winner of this series will advance to the North State finals against the winner between Vicksburg and New Hope. The Lady Rockets are seeking their ninth straight state championship in fast-pitch softball and their 11th in school history.
