Hattie “Faye” Ball

Hattie “Faye” Ball, 73, of Philadelphia, Mississippi passed away peacefully in Melissa, Tx on March 20, 2022, surrounded by her husband, her daughter, and her son-in-law. Faye was born in Newton and grew up in Sebastopol; she spent her later teenage years in Carthage, which is a town she loved and where she met her beloved husband, Richard “Rick” Ball, who she was married to for 53 years. After Hurricane Katrina, they moved to Philadelphia, Ms. Throughout her career as a nurse, Faye worked at the Biloxi VA and Mississippi Mental Health in Biloxi. She finished her career at the Choctaw Reservation in Philadelphia where she worked as an immunology and wound care nurse. Faye enjoyed gardening and enjoyed watching all her flowers bloom, but most of all she loved being a Maw Maw to all her grandbabies and great grandbabies. Maw Maw Faye will be dearly missed and always remembered for loving her babies to the moon and back.

Faye was predeceased by her son Richard Glen Ball, Jr, her father William Leonard Griffin, and her recently departed mother Neda Faye Townsend. Faye is survived by her husband, Richard Glen Ball, Sr, her daughter Lesha (Mark) Smith of Melissa, Tx, her brothers William “Gerald” Griffin (Carthage), Norman “Todd” Griffin (Forest), Travis Griffin (Carthage), and Wade Townsend (Philadelphia), her sisters Nancy (Dennis) Dontrich (Philadelphia), Karen (Tim) Hisaw (Noxapater), and Rose (Milton) Creel (Forest).
