Voters will return to the polls on Tuesday for a Republican run-off election in Mississippi’s Third House Congressional District. 

Incumbent Michael Guest is facing off against Michael Cassidy. Guest narrowly won Neshoba County on June 7 with 827 votes to Cassidy’s 823 votes. A third candidate, Thomas Griffin, received 94 of Neshoba County’s votes. 

Cassidy is a Maryland native who came to Meridian as a pilot in the Navy.  

Throughout the entire district, Cassidy edged Guest with 47.5 percent of the overall vote (22,879) to Guest’s 46.9 percent (22,592). 

County officials want voters to continue be aware of a number of precinct changes. 

Voting Precinct Changes include:

• The Tucker District 1 Precinct, which was located at Tucker Fire Station # 1, has been closed and voters will vote at the same location in the Tucker District 3 Precinct.

• The Bogue Chitto Precinct, which was located at the Bogue Chitto Community Center, has been closed and voters will now vote at the Forestdale Precinct located at the Coffadeliah Lodge located on Highway 491 North just South of the Bogue Chitto Community.

• The Neshoba Precinct, which was located at Walton Park, was closed due to changes with the facility and voters will now vote at the McDonald Precinct located at Linwood Fellowship Hall on County Road 325 at Linwood.

• The Deemer Precinct, which was located at Tucker Fire Station # 2, and the South Philadelphia Precinct, which was located at Trinity Baptist Church, have been combined and relocated to the new Deemer Precinct at the Great Commission Assembly of God Church on Highway 19 just South of the city of Philadelphia.

Polls are open on Tuesday, June 28, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The absentee voting deadline is noon on Saturday.
