Mayor Jim Fulton and the new Board of Aldermen were officially sworn into office on Monday, June 30, at City Hall.

Circuit Court Judge Mark Duncan administered the oath of office as his final act before retirement.“First, I want to thank God for this day and His will for allowing me this opportunity to serve as mayor of Philadelphia,” Fulton said. “Thank you to the citizens for electing me as the mayor for the next four years and for allowing me to serve as alderman for the last 12 years in Ward 2.”

Fulton went on to thank his wife, Lee Ann Fulton, and his family for their support during the campaign, Judge Duncan for the induction, the Rev. Dr. Evan Humphries for the opening prayer, and all family and friends in attendance.

He also thanked outgoing Mayor James A. Young for his service to the city and the employees who help make Philadelphia a better place.

“I look forward to working with these gentlemen over the next four years to make our city a better place to worship, live, work and raise a family,” Fulton said.
