AUGUST 1, 1941

Miss Billie Gylnn Fox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Fox of Coldwater Community, placed second in the Home Improvement contest held at State College last week. Misses Frances Warwick and Aldean Spivey, Neshoba County Demonstration Team, tied with the Lowndes County team for third place in place in patter alteration. Miss Annie Ruth Thrash, Bloomo was fifth place winner in the Food Preservation contest.  

JULY 26, 1951

The young ladies who will compete for the title, “Miss Neshoba County” Monday night at the Neshoba County Fair, have been selected from the various school communities according to Mrs. Linnie McArthur, Chairman. The list includes Bloomo: Sue Burton and Sue Thornton, House: Regina McGovern and Bonnie Bounds, Philadelphia: Bettye Higginbotham and Carol Graves, Dixon: Minnie Dora Mitchell and Maxine Hicks, Longino: Hilma McArthur and Frances Tucker, East Neshoba: Frances Marshall and Carolyn Lewis, Arlington: Eunice Salter and Shirley Ann Dunn, Linwood: Mary Deweese and Arieete Eldridge, Bond: Naomi Watkins and Thedra Burt, Coldwater: Beverly Ann Kennedy and Janell Johnson, and Zephyrhill: Catherine Jolly. 

JULY 27, 1961

Miss Kay Ward, Philadelphia’s Miss Hospitality left Wednesday morning, accompanied by her parents Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Ward for Biloxi, where she will participate in the State-Wide Miss Hospitality contest this weekend.   

JULY 29, 1971

Miss Pattie Sisson was crowned the new Miss Neshoba County Monday nigh at the Neshoba County Fair. Cindy Bozeman was second alternate, and Kay Iron was third alternate. The pageant was held at the pavilion before a capacity crowd.

JULY 23, 1981

The 1981 Neshoba County Fair, set July 31 through Aug. will feature top entertainers from the field of country music. Taking the stage Tuesday Aug. will be singer and songwriter, Ronnie McDowell. Wednesday night fairgoers will be entertained by Charly McClain. 

JULY 27, 1991

Chassidy Georgian Bell was crowned the 1991-92 Choctaw Indian princess Wednesday night during the annual Choctaw Indian Fair.   

JULY 25, 2001

Seventeen-year-old Lindsey Posey was crowned Miss Neshoba County 2001 Monday night at the Fair. The daughter of Kim and Jerry Posey, she is a senior at Philadelphia High School and a member of Sandtown United Methodist Church. 

JULY 27, 2011

Jordan Elizabeth Clearman, 18, was crowned Miss Neshoba County 2011 Monday night at the Fair after the pageant was delayed by more than two hours because of inclement weather. The daughter of Max and Paula Clearman, she as captured the Stagewear award.
