DECEMBER 6, 1940
Raymond Majure, of County Line State Corn Club, was named the State Corn Club Champion and won a trip to the National 4-H Congress in Chicago.

At the box supper held at Longino, they announced the winners of the election and gave out the coveted positions of Queens of the school were announced, and they are; Miss Longino High School, Miss Hilma McArthur, Miss Naomi Sisson, Miss Elementary School, Miss Bobbie Faye Parker, and Miss Betty Jo Sisson.
DECEMBER 1, 1960
The Bloomo Demonstration Club was given the Achievement Award winner for 1960. This was won by the point system. House and North Union Clubs tied for second place and Neshoba Club won third place.
DECEMBER 3, 1970
James H. (Jim) Causey has recently moved to Philadelphia to assume duties as Boy Scout executive for the Bobashela District, composed of Neshoba. Kemper and Newton counties. Causey and his wife, Sherry moved here from McComb. He has been teaching in Slidell, Louisiana for three years.

James Ely of the Coldwater community grew this seven pound turnip in his garden. He said he grew a lot of big turnips but this was the largest.

Angie Morrow of Philadelphia is a new member of the 1990-91 Student Fashion Board at Mississippi State University.

Kevin Day, 10, killed his first deer while hunting with his dad during the youth hunt in Ethel. He is the son of Dennis and Lisa Day.

Philadelphia native Sonny Oliphant has been inducted into the Mississippi State Senior Olympics Hall of Fame in ceremonies held in Clinton. Oliphant, 80, has competed in the senior olympics on both a state and national level for the past 15 years and has earned more than 200 medals, trophies and other awards.
