NOVEMBER 8, 1940
Franklin Delano Roosevelt rode to victory again Tuesday as the Democrats carried 39 of the 48 states, and thus he became the first man in United States history to win the office of President for a third term.
Two sons of Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Moore is now enlisted in the United States Army. Harbour Moore, joined in July and is now stationed in Montreat, California. Paul Moore enlisted recently, and Fort Patterson, Georgia, is his post.
NOVEMBER 3, 1950
In an achievement contest sponsored by the Junior Training Union of the Beacon Street Baptist church, Jerome Agent, Maggie D. Moore, Patricia Ann White, Kay Harris, Mary Ann Goodin, Patricia King, and Sam Patridge were the successful aspirants. Mrs. Randolph Cheatham is leader for the group.
Marine PFC Charles E. Hardy, of Philadelphia, was prompted to his present rank when he graduated recently from boot camp at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris, Island, S.C. Following a ten day leave on completion of his training, Hardy will be assigned to land, sea or air units with the versatile leathernecks.
NOVEMBER 10, 1960
Queen of Football, Juanita Smith, was crowned at the Booker T. Washington- DeKalb game Friday night. She is the daughter of James L. and Helen Smith. She is 18 years old and a senior at the school.
R.B. (Uncle Dolph) Green has a hand full with the two largemouth basses he caught in the Raymond Green pond. Uncle Dolph said that he caught the two on shiners. One weighed six pounds and the other five.
NOVEMBER 12, 1970
Dalton Henry, a 155 pound full back who became the first player in Choctaw Central High School history to break the 1,000 yard barrier in a single season. This year in ten ball games, Dalton gained 1338 yards for a 6.2 yard per carry average. A number of major colleges have expressed interest in Henry, including the University of Texas.
The Neshoba County 4-H Land Judging Team had won first place in the state. THe people are; Associate Neshoba County Agent, W.E. (Bill) Ethridge, Steve Cumberland, Jimmy Jackson, Rex Copeland, and Curtis Moore.
NOVEMBER 13, 1980
Richard McKay was honored Tuesday on his retirement from the Neshoba County School System after 24 years of service. At the time of his retirement, McKay was serving as principal of Neshoba Central Elementary School. Making the presentation is Prentice Coplenad, Neshoba County Superintendent of education.
Mrs. Mose Nance hauled in this 19 ½ pound catfish on a number 7 bream hook. She caught the big fish in a local private pond.
NOVEMBER 14, 1990
Captain Edd Rudolph participated in the christening program of the towboat James W. Buky at Jeffersonville, Indiana. As master of the new vessel, he was presented an American flag during the ceremony by Commander Dennis Cleveland, Coast Guard Captain of the Port of Louisville.
Dene Fulton, Neshoba County’s Young Woman of the Year, was a special guest at the Rotary Club’s luncheon meeting. Max Loper was also present on behalf of the Rotary Club.

Second and third place winners in the Choctaw Central Art Collage contest are; Amanda Hickman, Albert Lewis, Alicia Vaughn, Noranna Davis, Tasheena John, Gabriel Chickaway, Brittany Wallace, Shavon Willis, and Willa Thomas.
Shelby “Cole” Beason, son of Shelby and Candice Beason of Philadelphia, participated in the 2000 State Championship Horse Show in Jackson. This is Cole’s second year to show with the Red Hills Horse Show Association.

These faculty members representing East Central Community College in Decatur were recognized for excellence at the 2010 Lamplighter Conference held recently at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston. The women are; Lisa O’Neil of Meridian, hotel/restaurant management technology instructor; Kim Hardy, biology instructor and Martie Vaughn, associate degree nursing instructor, both of Philadelphia.
Sisters, Bonnie Conn, 91, of Philadelphia and Irene Huffman, 94, along with her daughter, Sharon Steffen, both of St. Louis, Missouri, enjoyed a day of fishing at Bonnie’s grandson, Terry Winstead’s pond. Together they caught 60 fish.
