APRIL 19, 1940

Dr. Porter Jordan of Philadelphia, attending the Mississippi Dental Association meeting in Jackson, came out third in the second flight of the 36-hole medal tournament in the annual golf event held in connection with the convention. Dr. Jordan's score was 189.

APRIL 21, 1950

Milton James showed his Jersey heifer. The heifer won junior champion and reserve champion at the Southeast Mississippi Livestock Show at Forest.

APRIL 21, 1960

Jimmie H. Thrash has assumed his new duties as sales manager of A. Deweese Lumber Company in Philadelphia, it has been announced by Tom Deweese, president. Mr. Thrash was formerly president and general manger of Curry-Thrash Lumber Co., Meridian, and is widely experienced in selling, buying and distribution of lumber and wood products.

APRIL 23, 1970

Police Commissioner Hugh Wayne Latimer presents certificates of participation to members of the Philadelphia Police Department who competed a recent course in narcotics and drug law enforcement.

The Philadelphia High School Band has received its sixth straight superior ratings at the state band festival. Susie Hand, drum majorette, also received a superior rating. The band's director is Bill Hood and assistant director is L.P. Bassett.

APRIL 24, 1980

The yard of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kirkland on Golf Course Road was named Yard of the Month by the Home Arts Club. The Kirklands were presented a potted plant by Four Season's Florist and Garden Center.

APRIL 25, 1990

Neshoba Central guard, Becky White, signs a letter of intent to attend East Central Community College. while sot a total of 68% from the free throw line to help the Lady Rockets to a 36-3 season. Her father, Robert was present along with Coach Bill Smith.

APRIL 19, 2000

Philadelphia Business and Professional Women's Club presented its March 2000 "Student of the Month" certificate to Jennifer Montes Long. Jessica is a senior at Philadelphia High School and is the daughter of Jackie and Miriam Long. Presenting the certificate is Barbara Ellingburg.

APRIL 21, 2010

Jessica Kendrick was recently awarded the H.O. Sargent Award and the Cooperative Scholarship at the Neshoba Central Annual FFA Awards Banquet. The people present are; Willie Jackson, Jessica Kendrick, and advisor Rusty Suttle.
