The housing shortage in Philadelphia is on the way out. Twenty permits have been released for the city of Philadelphia by the National Housing Agency. Ten of these will carry a maximum of $6,000 for private home builders.

The many friends of Mr.s May Freeburg rejoiced with her Monday evening when a long distance call came through from New York from her son, Sgt. Charles Houston Freeburg.

May 26, 1955

The month of June will be observed as "Hospitality Month," in Philadelphia and surrounding towns and cities in Mississippi.

The repeat performance of the Tom Thumb wedding May 17 netted the park commission $104 before expenses are taken out.

May 27, 1965

It was announced late Wednesday by W.A. McClendon of the McClendon Cheese Company of Newton that his company would take over the milk routes now serviced by Pet Milk.

The Milk Products Division of Pet Milk Company, effective June 30, 1965, will close its evaporated and milk plant at Kosciusko, and its milk receiving  units at Louisville, Philadelphia, and Winona.

Groundbreaking ceremonies for the Chahta Enterprises Plant Three will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at the Carthage Industrial Park, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians' Chief Phillip Martin, announced Monday.

Beginning June 1, casual sales of passenger vehicles will be subject to a 3 percent sales tax, Neshoba County Tax-Assessor-Collector Bobby Luke said today.

Choctaw Maid officials today announced the official groundbreaking of a major expansion project at the processing facility in Carthage.

The Mississippi Forestry Commission has announced the availability of $115,000 in grant funds to state agencies, cities and towns, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions in Mississippi for urban forestry products.

May 25, 2005

What's being described as an upscale hotel is under construction off Mississippi 16 west. Construction on a new 73-room hotel began last week and is expected to be completed by year's end.

It may not be a million-dollar project, but for some residents at the Neshoba County Nursing Home the new art program is a priceless addition to facility activities.

The 15 National Guard men, who deployed for Ft. Hood, Texas, Saturday morning, left with a special coin and a cross given to them by Mississippi's First Lady Deborah Bryant following a farewell ceremony at First Baptist Church.
