An interesting discussion on the topic "Banking" was given by Lion J. F. McCauley at the Philadelphia Lions Club held at Jordan's Cafe, Thursday March 8.

The remaining twenty-four Confederate veterans will hold a reunion beginning June 2nd and continuing through Sunday, June 3rd, Jerfferson Davis' 137th birthday, during which time the Daughters of the Confederacy will dedicate a highway marker at Beauvoir in front of the last home of Jefferson Davis.     

March 17, 1955

The A. DeWeese LUmber Company of Philadelphia has been given an Award of Merit by the National Safety Council, it has been announced.

Employees of the Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph in Philadelphia went out on strike Monday morning when negotiations between the company and CIO Local 3514, Communications Workers of America, failed to avert the walk-out.

March 18, 1965

Mrs. Lallah Perry, Philadelphia, is exhibiting in the 11th annual Drawing and Small Sculpture Show on the Ball State University campus. Her entry is a pencil drawing called "Pete".

Head football coach Howard (Red) Wells resigned this week at Neshoba Central High School after six years at the helm of the Rockets gridiron program.

March 20, 1975

The senior class of Choctaw Central High School visited Jackson to observe their state government in action. The group was hosted during their visit by Rep. Max Kilpatrick.

The Weyerhaeuser Company Girls' basketball team has won the Girls' Independent League championship. They won second place in the Choctaw Central tournament, second at Conehatta, and first in the Neshoba County league.

March 20, 1985

The Neshoba County Board of Supervisors has adopted an order saying that no sale of the county hospital and nursing home is pending or contemplated.

At a meeting Tuesday afternoon, the board of trustees of East Central Junior College elected Dr. Eddie M. Smith as the new president of the East Central Junior College at Decatur.

The Neshoba County Board of Supervisors was withholding $89,534 from Steelplex until the builder meets all items specified on the contract for building the new jail.

The new Wal-Mart Supercenter in Philadelphia was one of seven in the country opened Wednesday morning.

More than a year since work on the $4.4 million renovations to the county courthouse and library were completed, the project architect told supervisors Monday a list of problems plaguing the facilities would finally be put to rest.
