Mrs. Mittie Kennedy received a letter this week from her daughter, Miss Jeanne Kennedy, a U.S. Army Nurse, who is a prisoner of the Japanese in Prison Camp No. 1. This was the first message Mrs. Kennedy had received since October, 1943.

Neshoba County will have either a transport or cargo vessel named in its honor by the Navy, according to an announcement from the Navy Department in Washington.

Members of the Philadelphia high school Tornado football team, cheerleaders, managers, and Coach Frank Spruiell were honored at a program Monday morning of this week when H.C. Earhart of Louisville, president of the Choctaw Conference officially presented the school with the championship trophy for 1954.

Mr. and Mrs. John R. Marshall of East Philadelphia celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, January 9, in the home of their son, Herman Marshall in the East Neshoba community.

Three Leake County men lost in the Pearl River swamp Monday night, learned how cold 11 degrees can be in wet clothes. The men spent the night in the swamp, hovering over a fire.
