Longtime Philadelphia fire chief Pierce Clark announced his retirement during last Tuesday’s meeting of the board of aldermen.

His last day was Friday.

“I’m going to drink my coffee and hang out a little bit,” said Clark, who is retiring with more than 28 years of service, said. “I have been the chief since September 2007, and prior to that, I was on the truck.”

Clark is a lifetime resident of Philadelphia.

Time has flown by,” Clark said. “When you are busy, time flies by and I have been very busy for a long time.”

Mayor James A. Young congratulated and thanked Clark for his years of service. He said the board would discuss what to do about the new fire chief during the next meeting.

In other matters, the board voted to:

• Approve a resolution authorizing and directing Doc’s Toyota Auto Group Inc. to proceed with the TIF Bond. Aldermen also approved a resolution approving the sale of the TIF bonds;

• Approve paying two Allen & Hoshall invoices. The first was for $3,000 and came from the Philadelphia Utilities lagoon project account. The second was for $1,712 for the Airport lighting project;

• Accept the resignation of Tim Triplett from the Street Department;

• In a 4-1 vote approve performance based pay raises for 10 employees in the Street Department.

• Accept the resignation of Raymond Farlow from the Fire Department

The board went into executive session to discuss a personnel matter and then voted to adjourn.
