A Noxapater man died last week when another truck pulled out in front of the log truck he was driving near Brooksville, the authorities said.

Benjamin Douglas Kirk, 37, died in the accident that occurred at about 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17 were U.S. 45 intersects with Highway 388.

“We honor Ben Kirk. Heaven’s gain is our loss,” Woody’s in Noxapater displayed on its outdoor sign following his death.

A husband and the father of three, Kirk was remembered as “the best dad, the best man, the best friend.”

He was driving a 1998 Kenworth operated by Philadelphia-based Winstead Logging.

The other truck, a 2021 Peterbilt, was driven by Kasey Brock Gearig of Macon who was uninjured.

Gearig was hauling cotton seed. 

Foggy conditions may have limited visibility and contributed to the crash, the authorities said.

Funeral services for Kirk were held Saturday at the Noxapater Baptist Church.
