Family asking for prayers for teen injured in bike wreck
A Madison teenager whose grandparents live in Neshoba County suffered a serious head injury in a cycling accident at Lake Lorman on April 28.
Graham Goldman, 17, suffered a head injury while biking at Lake Lorman off of Coker Road in Madison County, just northwest of Ridgeland.
Details are sparse, but Goldman was out on his bike that he often rides competatively and was found unconscious at about 7 p.m.
“There is a lot we do not know,” a family friend said.
Goldman’s grandparents, Glenn and Donna Goldman of Philadelphia, and his parents, Rebecca and Justin Goldman of Madison, have been sharing updates and asking for prayers on social media.
Glenn Goldman said in a post on Sunday that there have been many ups and downs, including fluctuating blood pressure and fever. He asked for prayers for Graham’s continued rest and healing and for strength for the entire family.
In a message shared by Goldman’s aunt, Brandie, the family asked for specific prayers for Graham’s younger siblings, Jake and Shelby Kate, who are each coping with the trauma in their own way.
She also wrote of the emotional and physical toll on Graham’s parents and grandparents, asking for prayers for peace, rest, and encouragement during the long hospital stay.
“I know the family covets any and all prayers right now,” Henderson said. She said their “hope is in Christ.”
Laura Henderson, director of ministry operations at Madison Heights Church, said what is known is that Goldman received a head injury and was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She said doctors are monitoring swelling in his brain.
Christ Covenant School, where Goldman is a student, invited people to pray.
“We know that the Lord hears our prayers, and that the Goldman family will feel the love and support of these prayers,” the school said in a statement. “We take comfort in serving the Ultimate Physician and the hope that our trust in Him brings.”
Nick Hughes, who knows the family from church, said the Goldmans were integral in welcoming him into Madison Heights four years ago.
“Graham’s family is one of the most loving, generous, and hospitable families you’ll ever meet,” Hughes wrote on social media. ‘I’m as close to “G” as I’ve ever been to any student in ministry. He is so winsome, charming, and loving.”
Another family friend from the church, Merriwether Marchetti, said she knows Graham Goldman as someone who can light up a room.
“My favorite thing about Graham is the sheer joy he exudes everywhere he goes! I’m confident I will see his smile and hear his laugh again soon," she said on social media.
