Expect major detours downtown with construction on Main

Major street closures downtown starting Friday have been announced in connection with construction work across from City Hall on Main Street.

The left lane of Main Street will be closed from the Courthouse to Pecan Avenue and Pecan between Main and Beacon next to The Neshoba Democrat will be closed through Sept. 22, according to city officials.

Officials said that detour signs will be posted to instruct drivers how to get around the closure.

The property is owned by Security Insurance, according to county land records.

Sources have told the Democrat they anticipate demolishing or renovating of the buildings in that half block.

The Democrat has contacted the property owner for details and is awaiting a reply.
