Entertainment announced for Choctaw Indian Fair

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will host its 72nd Choctaw Indian Fair July 13-16 in Choctaw.

The entertainment will feature top country music and contemporary Christian acts on the Main Stage like Ryan Hurd and Casting Crowns.

It all starts Wednesday, July 13, with the 67th annual Choctaw Princess pageant. Thursday night’s entertainment will be Ryan Hurd; Friday night's will be Casting Crowns, and Lady A will perform on Saturday.

Herd is an American country music singer and songwriter. In addition to writing No. 1 singles for Blake Shelton, Lady A, and Luke Bryan. Hurd has recorded for RCA Records in Nashville. In 2021, Hurd released his most successful single. “Chasing After You,” the first duet he recorded with his wife Maren Morris. The song is his first top 10 hit on the country charts, and reached No. 23 on the Hot 100. The song is the lead single from his album Pelago, which was released on October 15, 2021.

Casting Crowns is a contemporary Christian and Christian rock band started in 1999 by youth pastor Mark Hall. Hall serves as the band's lead vocalist, as part of a youth group at First Baptist Church in Downtown Daytona Beach, Fla. They later moved to Stockbridge, Ga., and more members joined. Some members of the band currently work as ministers for Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough, Ga. The band has won a Grammy and a Dove Award.

Lady A, Lady A, formerly known as Lady Antebellum, is an American country music group formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2006. The group is composed of Hillary Scott (lead and background vocals), Charles Kelley (lead and background vocals, guitar), and Dave Haywood (background vocals, guitar, piano, mandolin).

In addition to the entertainment, the Choctaw Indian Fair features the annual World Series of Stickball with the adult championship games being held on Friday and Saturday nights following the entertainment.
