Coach Trae Embry will be leaving Neshoba Central at the end of the school year to become the head softball coach at Holmes Community College.

In his eight years at Neshoba Central, Coach Embry led the Lady Rockets to eight state slow-pitch softball state championships and seven fast-pitch championships. His teams have finished ranked as the No. 1 team in the state and in the nation according the USA Today girls softball poll.

"I have enjoyed my time at Neshoba Central and it is hard to leave," Embry said. "But this is a good opportunity for me and my family, and I just couldn't pass it up.

"But right now, all I'm worried about is this Neshoba Central team and this season," Embry said. "These girls deserve my focus."

Embry came to Neshoba Central in 2012 from Eupora after a successful tenure at his alma mater.

During his Neshoba Central years, Embry received numerous coaching honors, including the Mississippi Association of Coaches

Coach of the Year. He was a candidate for the National Coach of the Year.

Neshoba Central athletic director Tommy Holland said the school district will be accepting applications for the girls softball coaching job for about two weeks. He said he hoped to name a new coach before the end of the current season.
