She passed away on January 14, 2021, at St Dominic Hospital from complications of COVID-19. She had been a resident of The Arbor in Ridgeland for the past two years. A family graveside service was held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS.

Katherine lost her mother at the early age of eight and was raised by her father and his sister, Mildred (Aunt Millie) Nicholson in Newton, MS.. She graduated from Newton High School where she was a talented piano player, singer, popular, smart, articulate, class officer, pageant winner, cheerleader, voted Class Favorite, Sweetest, Beauty and Most Beautiful.

Together they had two children, Sandra & Buster. Katherine was the perfect wife and stay-at-home-mother who loved her family more than life itself. She was a wonderful cook, entertained like a true southern belle, President of the Garden Club, and served on numerous civic committees. Her husband’s career moved the family to many locations in Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama, and each move found her active in the local Methodist Church.

In her Bible she left notes for the family that included her favorite Bible verses and one where she wrote, I want this read at my funeral; Revelation 1:8, “I am the Alpha and Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
