Eight arrested in regional drug trafficking roundup
DEKALB — A string of arrests involving the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics in Kemper County has netted eight individuals involved in the illegal drug trade in Neshoba and Kemper counties.
Two DeKalb men, Alton Delunta Gordon, 43, and Charles Murphy Bolden Jr., 46, face drug charges from the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office. Both men face charges of trafficking of cocaine.
The Kemper County Sheriff’s Office stated that the pair was arrested on Friday, June 6, when deputies and MBN agents served warrants at two residences in Kemper County.
The KCSO statement went on to say that the arrests were the result of “a multi-jurisdictional investigation into the illegal distribution of controlled substances across Kemper and Neshoba Counties” that has been conducted “over the past several months” by the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office and Philadelphia Police Department in addition to the KCSO and MBN.
According to an MBN release Wednesday, law enforcement made an additional six arrests throughout Kemper County on Wednesday, June 18.
This coordinated effort led to the arrest of six additional individuals and the seizure of approximately 107 grams of methamphetamine, along with a small amount of crack cocaine, a statement from the KCSO said.
Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell said MBN agents along with members of the Kemper County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks conducted an “arrest operation” in Kemper County, on Wednesday, June 18, targeting the distribution of controlled substances in the area.
"This is great work done by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Kemper County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks that is a testament to the power of collaboration,” Tindell said. “By working together to get drugs off our streets, they are helping build safer, healthier communities for all Mississippians.”
