Edward "Ed" Paul Shamp
Mr. Edward “Ed” Paul Shamp passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at his home in Meridian, MS. Ed was a devoted father and grandfather.
He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed woodworking, especially projects for his grandchildren. Competing in sailboat races in his younger days, Ed always had an affinity for the beach and water.
He was a dedicated employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for over 30 years and volunteered his extra time with the Knights of Columbus in the Catholic Community of Meridian. He also enjoyed leading the Catholic Youth Organization for several years while his children were active members.
He loved to quietly serve others and never liked to be in the spotlight although he earned many awards during his career and volunteer work.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Gerard Amis Shamp and Shirley Mae (Housey) Shamp.
He is survived by his special friend, Sandi Maxwell; children: Randi Huntley (Russell), Brett Shamp (Paige), Jena Brown (Caleb), and Thomas Van Brewster; grandchildren: Darcy and Dean Huntley, Brigham and Colter Shamp, and Grayson and Dallas Brown along with twins on the way; brothers and sisters: Gerard “Buster” Shamp, Jr. (Rebecca), Courtney Sharp, Patricia Woody, Ann Miller (Kenneth), Ellen Bachman (Gene), Jean Comeau (Rich), Mary Moisant (Jerry), William “Bill” Shamp, Audrey Jenkins, and James “Jim” Shamp (Allyson) and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation for Edward Paul Shamp will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Meridian, MS followed by a memorial Mass at 3:00 p.m. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Saint Joseph Abbey Cemetery in Covington, LA.
