A private family service for Earlene Edwards Peebles was held Friday, November 27, 2020, with interment in Cedarlawn Cemetery with Rev. Scott Boatner officiating.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peebles, 85, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

She was a native and longtime resident of Neshoba County.  Mrs. Peebles was a member of West Philadelphia Baptist Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School, directed numerous Christmas programs and Bible Schools, sang alto in the choir, and had a profound love for her church & church family. She was eager to share her faith and love for Jesus. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman. She was a homemaker first, but wore many hats over her lifetime. She was a preacher’s wife, loving mother, factory worker, business partner, and childcare giver. No matter what her job happened to be, she always served her family first with a hot home- cooked breakfast and a sit-down family dinner.

Survivors include daughter, Martha (Ronnie) Lewis of Philadelphia, Mitze (Mike) Evans of Starkville; sons, Rev. Ricky Allen (Sarah) Peebles of Booneville, Mark (Stephanie) Peebles of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Justin Allen (Jess) Lewis, Benjamin Darby (Erin) Evans, Daniel Darby (Kate) Evans, Erica Peebles, Rachel Peebles, Kyle Peebles, Maggie (Preston) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Chase Lewis, Cody Allen Lewis, Jaid Lewis, John David Lewis, Emery Jane Evans, Lincoln Grady Evans; sister, Merlene (Tate) Barnes of Philadelphia; numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Mrs. Peebles was preceded in death by husband, Bro. Billy Allen Peebles; son, Mike Peebles; parents, Robert and Evie Edwards; siblings, Winfred “Pete” Edwards, R. J. Edwards, H. L. “Jack” Edwards, Bobby Edwards, and Yvonne Myrin. 

Pallbearers were Justin Lewis, Ben Evans, Dan Evans, Kyle Peebles, Preston Anderson, Chase Lewis, Cody Lewis, and Anthony Steele.
