Funeral services for Bro. Duaine Preston Morgan were held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00p.m. from the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m.

Bro. Morgan, 87, of Philadelphia, Mississippi, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Neshoba County General Hospital.

Bro. Morgan was a faithful servant of the Lord for over 63 years all over the state of Mississippi. He began his ministry in 1954 at Haven Heights Mission in Forrest County. He served as pastor for Fewell Survey Mission and Meehan Baptist Church both in Lauderdale County, Wiggins Baptist Church in Leake County, Enterprise Baptist Church and Souenlovie Baptist Church both in Clark County, Sunrise Baptist Church in Leake County, Trinity Baptist Church in Neshoba County, and New Prospect Baptist Church in Leake County. In 1973, he began his ministry as pastor of Salem Baptist Church in the Burnside Community of Neshoba County. He faithfully served there for 43 years. Upon his retirement, he joined and was an active member of First Baptist Church, Philadelphia.

Bro. Morgan worked bi-vocationally as a minister and was also known as teacher both at Enterprise High School and Madden High School while ministering in those areas. Upon moving to Neshoba County, he built and was owner of Four Seasons Florist and Garden Center from 1971 till his retirement in 2014. In addition to his work, he also enjoyed planning and hosting tours to the Holy Land for countless families and friends. His interest was started with his father, James Lowell Morgan, and he continued his father’s work from 1967 to the mid-2000s taking 35 different tours that including traveling to Israel, Greece, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, and ten other countries.

Survivors include wife, Lou Morgan; children, Angie Bassett (L.P.), Dane Morgan (Vicki), Kevin Morgan (Lucy), and Dee Dee Bailey (David); grandchildren, Marley Gentry (Jason), Justin Griffin (Christie), Jason Manuel (Wendy), Joel Manuel (Alisha), Lindi White (Rob), Christopher Morgan, Morgan Jay (Caleb), and Mary Margaret Hanna (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Kaelin Gentry, Kinsey Smith (Cooper), Griffin Gentry, Kami Gentry, Gavin Gentry, Gibson Gentry, Gabe Gentry, Preston Griffin, Brooks Griffin, Rachel Griffin, Deacon Manuel, Cullen Manuel, Jack Manuel, Mae Ellington White, Bailey Jay, Lucy Jay, and James Hanna. He is also survived by his sister Johnnie Sue Butler; sisters-in-law, Judy Morgan and Daisy Seale Moore; brother, Sydney Morgan (Margie); brother-in-law, Roger Giroux; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lowell and Dee Morgan; brothers, Phillip Morgan and Denny Morgan, and sister, Jonell Giroux.

In lieu of flowers, please make all memorials to First Baptist Church and designate either FBC Children’s Ministry, Harvest Church, or Love Out Loud Neshoba.
