Donna Lynne Alford
Funeral services for Donna Lynne Alford were held Monday, August 5, 2024 at 10 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Dan Howard and Rev. Evan Humphries officiating. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 5 until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alford, 63, of Philadelphia died Friday, August 2, 2024 at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Donna was a native of Neshoba County and graduated from Neshoba Central High School. She attended nursing school at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis and earned her degree for a RN and then attended MUW and received her BS degree in nursing and then went to UMMC and received her ANP degree and then received her Doctor of Nursing Practice at USM. She worked in nursing for 43 years during which she worked at Riley Hospital and then Choctaw Health Center for 8 years and then retired from the VA Hospital in Jackson. Donna enjoyed horseback riding in her younger years and always had a love for horses, she also enjoyed playing the flute, antiquing, which included antique furniture and antique jewelry, sewing, crocheting and making jewelry. She loved being with her family especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Alford was a member of the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Herman Alford of Philadelphia; daughters, Charleigh Vickers (Brett) and Madison Alford all of Brandon; son, Andrew Alford of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Ridge and Ann Rivers Vickers.
Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her parents, Madison and Sammie Fulton; and sister, Debbie Critz.
