Deputy charged in simple assault matter

A Neshoba County Sheriff’s deputy is out on bond after being arrested and charged in relation to an alleged “domestic violence event,” the authorities said. 

Deputy Gordon Kenneth Adkins, 39, 14450 Highway 21 south, was arrested and charged with simple assault.

Sheriff Eric Clark said Justice Court Judge Paul Payne signed a warrant for Adkins's arrest on the misdemeanor simple assault charge on Friday, Nov. 25.

Adkins turned himself in the following morning just before 10 a.m. and was released on an $800 bond at 10:26 a.m.

Adkins has been placed on administrative leave.

Clark said he understands the warrant is related to an alleged “domestic violence event” though no report has been filed with law enforcement.
