Two Neshoba County men were arrested on drug charges earlier this month when law enforcement officers encountered them in the middle of the road with a broken-down vehicle.

The man who owned the truck, Christopher Russell Wallace, 46, 12320 Road 325, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana in a vehicle, and no insurance, according to Neshoa County Sheriff Eric Clark.

The man with Wallace, Joseph Holley, 47, 14 Knight Street, was arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana in a vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance, according to Clark.

Deputies first encountered the pair at about 12:51 a.m. on Sunday, May 4, on Road 258 near the intersection with Road 248 near the railroad in the McDonald community.

Clark said deputies responded to a call that a truck was parked in the middle of the road. When deputies arrived, they found Holley and Wallace standing outside the truck.

The truck belonged to Wallace and had broken down while the two were on the way to his home.

Deputies soon noticed a marijuana grinder in plain view and received permission to search the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle found a small amount of a green leafy substance in a cigarette pack from inside the truck and a small jar containing what appeared to be marijuana in the bed of the truck. Clark said inside the jar was a felony amount of crystal methamphetamine, which led to the arrest of the two men.
