Deputies led on 25-mile pursuit

A woman suspected of being intoxicated led Sheriff’s deputies on a 25-mile pursuit from the Co-Op all the way to Stallo before daylight Monday morning.

Olivia Massey, 33, of 12580 County Road 759, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing, failure to yield to blue lights, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and driving under the influence first offense. 

The pursuit, which began near the Neshoba County Co-Op on Main Street during a traffic stop, ended just a quarter-mile short of the Winston County line with Massey zig-zagging down county roads in and around Burnside, Dunn Road and points north.

Massey has been denied bond on the felony fleeing charge and has a hold for another agency, officials said. The other charges have a total of $3,100 in bond.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said deputies pulled Massey over in front of the Co-op at approximately 5:15 a.m. Monday, March 1. 

Massey was driving a black Cadillac SRX SUV and was spotted driving erratically and stopping in the roadway.

Clark said he talked to Massey after she led deputies on the 25-mile chase and said she seemed impaired to him at that time as well.

Clark said deputies had pulled Massey over and were running her driver’s license. They had the door open and were trying to remove her keys when she decided to flee. 

Clark said his deputies were able to get out of the way but one was reaching into the car at the time she sped off.

Clark said deputies followed the Cadillac east on Main Street, disregarding several traffic lights, before turning north on Pecan Avenue. 

Meanwhile, Clark said she was passing other vehicles on the road in a dangerous manner.

The suspect then got onto Mississippi 15 north and proceeded toward Stallo. 

Clark said she led deputies around Burnside before taking a left on County Road 571 crisscrossing a number of county roads.

“At one point I think she turned around and started heading toward deputies,” Clark said.

Eventually, she would get back onto Mississippi 15 before turning onto Road 832 headed for the Winston County line. 

At this time, Clark said Massey lost control of her vehicle and went off the road into an embankment between a quarter-mile and a half-mile from the Winston County line.

“My guys did a really good job,” Clark said. 

“She was obviously impaired and they did a good job of getting her off the road. She put a lot of other people in danger.”
