A Neshoba County man was arrested and charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine after leading law enforcement officers on a brief pursuite in the early morning hours of Oct 28.

The man, Tony M. Anthony, 51, of 10061 Road 2624, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, no insurance, improper equipment and disorderly conduct.

Anthony was arrested after officers attempted to make a stop on the vehicle Anthony was driving before 2 a.m., Lyons said. He said authorities first encountered Anthony on Highway 16 west near Tractor Supply.

The chase then went back toward town onto the bypass where officers were able to box him in in the area of the AT&T store.

Officers reported seeing what they believed to be drugs being thrown out the window during the course of the chase. According to Lyons, Anthony was charged with possession of a controlled substance after narcotics were found inside the vehicle.

Sheriff Eric Clark said that deputies assisted in the pursuit.
