A South Carolina man was arrested at the Golden Moon Casino on drug trafficking charges early last week.

The man, David Alex Minton, 36, of 217 Hartleigh Drive, Lyman, S.C., was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

Authorities are also looking for an accomplice, Roderick “Putt Putt” Clark, a 44-year-old black male who is believed to live in Scott County, Clark said.

He said there was a warrant for his arrest for drug trafficking. Sheriff Clark noted a drug trafficking charge can carry a penalty of between 10 and 40 years in prison.

According to Clark, deputies first encountered Minton at 2:15 p.m. on July 29, when the Choctaw Police Department made contact with Minton at the Pow Wow convenience store. Clark said CPD was looking for Minton after an unspecified incident at the Golden Moon.

Authorities then took Minton back to the Golden Moon to evict him from his room. Clark said upon returning to the Golden Moon authorities encountered Roderick Clark leaving Minton’s room but did not detain him.

In the process of evicting Minton, authorities found a glass pipe in plain view in his hotel room. A search of Minton’s bag revealed a small backpack containing 58 grams of crystal methamphetamine. Clark said the meth was worth about $40 a gram.

When Minton stood up, officers also found a small bottle containing more meth in the chair he was sitting in and a small amount of marijuana on him.
