A Philadelphia man was arrested and charged after he lead deputies on a high-speed chase reaching speeds as high as 115 miles per hour near Linwood Thursday afternoon.

“It was a motorcycle pursuit that reached really high rates of speed,” Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said. “At one point we clocked him going over 115 miles per hour.”

The man, Terry Atwood, 33, 10081 Road 260, was arrested and charged with felony pursuit.

Clark said Atwood was first spotted driving recklessly on a motorcycle by a deputy on Highway 15 south near Linwood around Road 485 at about 3:30 p.m.

Clark said the chase went for about six or seven miles toward the McDonald community.

“He put other people’s lives in danger,” Clark said. “He was passing people on hills and across double yellow lines and almost ran a vehicle off the road.”

Clark said deputies caught up with Atwood after his engine blew and they found him on the side of the road trying to get away from his smoking motorcycle.
