Deputies arrest Indiana sex offender

A registered sex offender is in custody in connection with several investigations in Neshoba County and Indiana, the authorities said.

Joshua Lamar Moore, 36, of Route 6 Box 1034, Philadelphia, has been arrested and charged with failure to register as a sex offender in Neshoba County.

Sheriff Eric Clark said that Moore remains in custody in connection with investigations being conducted both locally and in Marion County, Indiana, where he is originally from.

“As far as we can tell he has been here for a minute and we are glad we got our hand s on him,” Clark said.

Moore was convicted in Johnson County, Indiana, in June 2010 for sexual misconduct with a minor.

Clark said that the only charge he currently faces locally is failure to register as a sex offender though he is a person of interest in local investigations and could face charges as these investigations mature.

Clark said Moore was picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 16. It has been reported that he has been living here for some time and moves from house to house, mostly along Road 539, Clark said.

Clark said that he does not know many details about what Moore is wanted for in Indiana but said that the Marion County Sheriff’s Department seems motivated to extradite him to their jurisdiction during the Christmas holiday.
