Deputies arrest family duo with weed, crack cocaine

A mother and son duo was arrested on drug charges after Sheriff’s deputies found weed and crack cocaine at a Carver Avenue residence on Friday morning, the authorities said.

The son, Korzay Thurrell Willis, 20, 243 Carter Avenue, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

His mother, Tina Willis, 40, 243 Carver Avenue, was also arrested and charged with the same two counts.

Both bonded out on $20,000 apiece the morning of Jan. 8.

Clark said the two were arrested when deputies pulled Korzay over in front of the Carver Avenue home around 9:43 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6. 

Deputies soon discovered that Willis had an active warrant with the Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear in court as well as two active warrants from Philadelphia PD.

According to Clark, his office had received information that drug transactions were taking place at the property and that there was a large amount of marijuana inside.

Officers agreed to let Korzay give some money over to Tina before they took him into custody.

Clark said when Tina exited the residence, deputies could smell marijuana and that Tina then gave permission to search the home.

Following the search, deputies seized four fire arms that included a .22-caliber rifle, an AR-15-style rifle and two nine-millimeter handguns.

Deputies also seized $2,191 in cash and “a significant amount” of drugs that included 110 grams or about four ounces of marijuana and eight grams of crack cocaine.
