Deputies arrest Carthage man with crack cocaine at checkpoint
A Carthage man’s bond was denied after he was found in possession of crack cocaine at a checkpoint manned by Nehsoba County Sheriff’s deputies last week.
The man, Christopher Hall, 40, 2001 William Street, Carthage, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark. Hall also had two warrants for his arrest in Neshoba County.
Deputies encountered Hall at the checkpoint on Road 147 near the intersection with Road 604, also known as Harmony Road, when Hall drove a silver Ford Expedition up to the checkpoint smelling of weed at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3.
Clark said Hall consented to search his vehicle after deputies found he had no driver’s license and an outstanding bench warrant in Neshoba County for failure to appear in court.
Deputies found a cigarette box in an armrest in the vehicle that had two rock-like substances believed to be crack cocaine.
Clark said Hall had confessed to smoking weed earlier that evening in his vehicle.
