David Earl “Scooter” Smith

Funeral services for David Earl “Scooter” Smith were held Monday, April 21, 2025 at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. Dennis Duvall officiating. Burial followed in Coldwater Cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr.  Smith, 58, of Philadelphia passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

David was born and raised in Neshoba County and was a graduate of Neshoba Central High School Class of 1986. He was employed at Yates Building Supply as the lumber yard manager and served with the Hope Volunteer Fire Department as fire chief. Mr. Smith was a longtime member of Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Christy Smith; daughters, Chloe Floyd (Andrew) and Emmy Smith; grandson, River Floyd; sister, Theresa Stewart (Jimmy); and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and their families.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Louise Smith.
