Crews continue to clean up after ice

City and county workers are well into the cleanup process from the February ice storms that brought down powerlines, trees and other debris all over Neshoba County two weeks ago.

“Our plan is to chip as much as we can chip,” said Jeff Mayo, county administrator of disposal of downed trees and limbs. “We will probably be renting another chipper. We will just take the large stuff to the landfill.”

Philadelphia Mayor James Young said the city is working to clear what has fallen on the streets and is pulling it to the side. The second part will be picking up what residents are hauling out to their streets from their yards.

“It is going to be a challenge,” Young said. “We have done it before. We are asking people to be careful and to be patient during this time.”
