A Little Rock woman was fatally injured in a wreck here on the Mississippi 15 bypass at Fork Road the morning after Thanksgiving.

Lauren G. Stewart, 20, was fatally injured in the wreck involving the Chevrolet pickup she was driving and a large box truck at 6:15 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.

The two collided when Stewart was coming off of Fork Road and headed west, as the truck was traveling southbound, Lyons said.

Investigators believe Stewart was attempting to turn left onto Highway 15 and head south at the time of the collision.

The driver of the box truck, a 42-year-old man from Sturgis, received serious injuries and was transported to Neshoba General and later taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Lyons said he did not have an update on his condition as of Tuesday morning.

“Traffic was delayed for more than five hours as crews worked to clear the scene,” Lyons said.

Lyons said that the box truck owned by Clark Beverage was hauling a “full load of beverages” at the time of the wreck.
