COVID-19 cases slightly increasing in county with 20% here vaccinated

COVID-19 cases increased slightly over the past week in Neshoba County as 22 new cases and no new deaths were recorded, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Tuesday report. 

Neshoba County’s total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020 is now 4,097, with the death toll remaining at 180. Of those deaths, 114 are from the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, according to MSDH. 

As of Tuesday, 20% of Neshoba County’s population is fully vaccinated, according to MSDH, and 22% of the county’s population has received one of the 12,153 total doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered in the county. 

Vaccinations are being administered Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Neshoba County Coliseum, 12000 Highway 15 North, and are available to all Mississippians 16 and older. 

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians reported no new positive cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths in the past week as of July 5, with the total number of positive cases for the Tribe remaining at 1,838 with 114 deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020. No new hospitalizations have been reported.

Statewide, since the pandemic began in March 2020, 197,408 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded by the MSDH along with 125,427 probable cases, totaling 322,835 cases. There have been 5,116 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, along with 2,309 probable COVID-19 deaths, totaling 7,425.
