County installing kiosk for tax payments

County installing kiosk for tax payments

Paying taxes may not be your favorite thing to do.

But the time spent standing in a long line at the Neshoba County Courthouse may become less, according to Tax Assessor/Collector Mike Lewis.

Lewis told the Board of Supervisors during their regular Monday meeting he has installed a kiosk in the lobby where people with credit or debit cards can swipe their cards and basically be done.

“We hope to eliminate some lines,” Lewis said. “They can process their payment on the kiosk and it will print the receipt in the office. There will be a pickup window in the office. It will be for car tag renewals and tax payments.”

Lewis said it gives the public another option. You can also pay in person, online or by mail. This required no action by the board.
