The body of a missing Choctaw Indian woman who was apparently murdered was found off Road 604 in the New Harmony community just west of Choctaw Monday afternoon, law enforcement and Tribal officials said.

Samantha Cutler, age unavailable, was last seen Thursday. Over the weekend, friends and family began a search of the area.

“Choctaw PD worked that yesterday,” Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said Tuesday. “We were called to assist, but had a very minor role.”

Clark said deputies were called to the scene about 6 p.m. and largely assisted in directing traffic. He said he does not know any further details.

“The body has been taken to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for autopsy,” Misty Brescia, Tribal spokesperson said. “Choctaw Police Department is investigating this death, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrived to assist. No further information is currently available due to the ongoing investigation.”

Tuesday afternoon, a couple of dozen Tribal members marched to the Justice Complex on the Reservation calling for “Justice for Sam.”
