A Newton County man was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop in the Linwood community last week, the authorities said.

Ricky Stevens, 43, 1079 Road 4302, Little Rock, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said Stevens was out on bond when he was arrested at a traffic checkpoint on County Road 325 near Linwood on Tuesday, Jan 3, about 4:30 p.m.

Stevens was driving a black F-150 when he went through a roadblock, officials said.

Clark said deputies searched the vehicle when Stevens was found to be without a driver's license and had paraphernalia including baggies and scales out in plain view in his vehicle. A search of the vehicle found what appeared to be a gram of crystal meth in the center console.
