CDP seeking support for fiber grant
MaxxSouth Broadband is applying for grant funding to install fiber internet for all unserved and underserved residents and businesses in Neshoba, Leake, and Attala counties.
To support the effort, the Community Development Partnership (CDP) is encouraging Neshoba County residents and businesses to submit letters of support.
“High-speed internet access is a critical tool for modern life, education, healthcare, and economic development,” said Valerie Hardy, a District 2 resident.
Hardy, a grandmother, retired educator, and small business owner, said that all students need access to artificial intelligence, remote learning, and quick access to information and services, regardless of location for rural areas.
“I am part of our aging population that needs access to telehealth consultations, remote patient monitoring, and communication for first responders during emergencies,” Hardy said. “All Philadelphia/Neshoba County residents deserve the best possible, and this grant is needed with Central Electric support.”
Printed copies of a support letter are available at the Depot to make it easier for the community to participate. Additionally, a print-ready version is accessible through a Google Docs link, and a Word document template is available for businesses to use on their letterhead.
Signed support letters can be dropped off at The Depot or emailed to Searra Wilson at searra.wilson@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Jan. 21.
