An overgrown field where residents of a trailer park had dumped a bunch of trash caught fire Sunday afternoon near Sandtown and the black smoke could be seen from town.

A resident saw a 13-year old boy who likely started the fire that burned for several hours, said Assistant Fire Chief Neal King with the East Neshoba Volunteer Fire Department. No charges had been filed at this time.

Trent Rickles posted a video on Facebook below.

Volunteer firefighters got the blaze under control and then waited while a portion that was trapped in a gully burned out.

Firefighters got the call between about 2 p.m. and were there till about 5:30 p.m.
