Reports of loud booms in the Bond Community are being investigated by the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, according to Sheriff Eric Clark.

Clark said they have received calls and seen social media posts about the booms over the weekend like one around 11 p.m. on Saturday.

Clarks says they have identified a property on Road 779 off of Highway 21 north and talked to the property owner.

They believe the property owner has been shooting Tannerite, a binary explosive often used as a rifle target.

He said it would be a misdemeanor if they caught him in the act but there is not a lot they can do until then.

They have told neighbors that they can file disturbing the peace charges, but no charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.

Explosions were also reported in the Hopewell community. Clark said he he doubted Hopewell residents would have heard the same soiund due to the distance and that his office has recieved no offical reports of loud booms form that area.
