Baptists sponsor ‘Evening of laughter’

Sunday night promises to be “An evening of laughter” as the Neshoba County Baptist Association hosts Dr. Dennis Swanberg known as “America’s Minister of Encouragement.”

The program will start at 6 p.m. and is being held at the Neshoba County Coliseum. Admission is free.

“We have asked the 36 churches in our association to move their evening services to the Coliseum this week,” said The Rev. David Addy, associational missions director of the Neshoba County Baptist Association. “We are not asking anyone to cancel their services, just come and join us. Everyone is invited.”

Swanberg was a pastor for 23 years. In 1995, he stepped down as church pastor and stepped up to the microphone on stages and platforms throughout America and the World.

“The Swan” soon became “America’s Minister of Encouragement,” a job he takes seriously as he continues to speak to about 150 organizations, faith-based groups and corporations every year. He has hosted two successful TV series, authored nine books, and created more than two dozen DD/CD productions.

“I heard him several years ago.” Addy said. “We all could use a good laugh. He brings humor with an encouraging Christian message. I hope we will have a good crowd. All churches are welcomed.”

Prior to Swanberg’s program, there will be a brief discussion about this summer’s Love Out Loud program.

The association is setting up work and random acts of kindness projects for the week of June 21-25.

Volunteers will come to the Baptist Association building at 8 a.m. for breakfast and then will go to work on the projects from 9 a.m. until noon.
