Suspects are being sought in the case of a box trailer stolen from a Philadelphia auction earlier this month that was recovered in Leake County last week, the authorities aid.

“We have no leads at this time and no suspect in reference to the theft,” Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons said. “This case is still under investigation.”

According to Lyons, the incident occurred at Lane Taylor Auction on Pecan Avenue on Saturday, May 13. A description of the trailer along with the tag and vehicle identification number (VIN) into a national database following incident, Lyons said.

On Wednesday, May 24, Philadelphia officials were notified by the Leake County Sheriffs' Office that they had located the stolen trailer behind an abandoned building near Thomastown, an unincorporated community in Leake County 12 miles northwest of Carthage.

Investigators retrieved the trailer that day and returned it to its owner, Lyons said.

“This is what cross jurisdictional communication looks like,’ a social media post by the LCSO said. “The Leake County Sheriff's Office and The Philadelphia Police Department have a great working relationship and this is evidence of that.”
