Postseason play begins this week for a majority of local baseball and softball teams, with multiple looking to make a deep postseason run.

Neshoba Central baseball wrapped up their regular season last week with two wins over Columbus and a loss to New Hope, finishing the regular season with a 17-12 record. The Rockets are the two-seed out of Region 2-6A and will play a best-of-three series against South Panola in the first round of the MHSAA 6A state tournament, with game one taking place on Friday at 7 PM at Neshoba Central.

Neshoba Central softball finished the regular season with a region sweep over Ridgeland to conclude the regular season with a 17-7 record. The Lady Rockets are the one seed out of Region 2-6A and will play a best-of-three series against Center Hill in the first round of the MHSAA 6A state tournament, with game one set for Thursday at 6 PM at Neshoba Central.

Choctaw Central baseball saw their season come to an end, after being swept by Itawamba in the first round of the MHSAA 4A state tournament. The Warriors finish the season with a 4-16 record.

Choctaw Central softball swept their first round series over Amory, winning 10-2 and 10-0, to advance to the second round of the MHSAA 4A state tournament and improve to 16-7 on the year. The Lady Warriors will play Caledonia in their second round series, with game one set for Thursday at 6 PM at Caledonia.

Philadelphia baseball saw their season come to an end, after being swept by East Union in the first round of the MHSAA 2A playoffs. The Tornadoes finish the year with a 6-9 record.

Philadelphia softball saw their season come to an end in a first round sweep by East Union in the first round of the MHSAA 2A state tournament. The Lady Tornadoes finish the season with a 4-11 record.

Union baseball split the first two games of their series with Hamilton in the first round of the MHSAA 2A state tournament, moving to 15-9 on the season. The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to play the rubber match against Hamilton on Tuesday at 3 PM at East Mississippi Community College, with results unavailable at print time.

Union softball swept their first round series over Walnut, improving to 18-10 on the season. The Lady Yellow Jackets will play Calhoun City in the second round of the MHSAA 2A state tournament, with game one set for Thursday at Union at 5:30 PM.

Leake Academy baseball finished the regular season with a series sweep over East Rankin Academy, moving to 21-6 on the season. The Rebels will play Starkville Academy in their first round series of the MAIS 5A North Regional tournament, with the first two games set for Thursday at Starkville Academy. The first pitch of game one is set for 4 PM.
