Area judge gets email threats
A Philadelphia man was arrested in Lauderdale County for sending harassing emails to a judge there.
The man, David Keith Myrick, 43, of 12391 Road 614, was arrested and charged with cyberstalking.
Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said Myrick was arrested on Monday, Jan. 13, in Lauderdale County by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. He was brought into custody here at about 12:30 p.m.
Clark said Myrick had been charged with cyberstalking for sending a judge the authorities did not name a mass of emails.
Clark said the content and amount of the messages “disturbed the judge,” leading the judge to contact local law enforcement. Due to multiple county jurisdictions being involved in the investigation, MBI was called in to assist.
Myrick remains in the Neshoba County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
Clark said the arrest was made within 24 hours of the emails being reported but said they could release no further information due to the nature of the investigation.
