Annual Fore A Cure golf tournament set for Sept. 30

The annual Fore A Cure Golf Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life has a 9 a.m. Sept. 30 tee time at Dancing Rabbit Golf Course.

The Fore A Cure Tournament benefits the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life and began about 12 years ago as a way for Weyerhaeuser to raise money for Relay For Life.

Then-Weyerhaeuser Plant Manager Stan Webb, who is now retired, came up with the tournament after participation in the annual Relay For Life event had declined as a way for the community to help fight cancer.

In 2019 the golf tournament raised more than $56,000, and Webb said the tournament gives people a chance to fight cancer while having fun and networking.

"This is Neshoba County’s Relay For Life sponsorship golf tournament,” Webb said.

Participation in the golf tournament requires a minimum $1,000 team donation and fundraising commitment.

Check-in for the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, with a 9 a.m. tee time at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course. The $1,000 donation includes a three-person team entry — a 1-hole sponsorship for people fighting cancer or for loved ones who have died of cancer with recognition on the program’s literature and public communications.

Prizes will be given for the Partner's Champion (lowest score among the partners) and Overall Champion (lowest score).

Registration for the tournament officially ended Sept. 20, but late registration is possible for businesses and people who are interested by calling Webb at 601-416-2232 or emailing him at standwebb@gmail.com.
