A 7- to 8-foot alligator was removed from 15011 Highway 21 North earlier today.

According to Sheriff Eric Clark, the alligator was creating a hazard for motorists on the highway.

It was safely relocated with the help of two alligator wranglers, MDWFP Officer Joey Neese and Deputy Matthew Winstead.

“We received calls of the large gator in the roadway,” Clark said. “They made it up there and it tried to hide in a culvert.”

Clark said the officers used a catch pole to restrain the alligator and wrestled with it until it was subdued.

They then secured it with tape and zip ties before relocating it.
